I got bored and decided to write about EVE – a game “in its own genre”, winner of many awards and completely different from most MMOs… MMO.
What is EVE?
EVE is a game about spaceships. And spaceships are serious business.
"EVE is a game about spaceships. And spaceships are serious".
New Eden (the name of the galaxy where all the violence happens) was discovered through a wormhole in the 7980s AD.uh. Over the 80 years of colonization, a lot of people moved there, so when the wormhole closed and left the colonists there to fend for themselves, they had everything they needed.
And now, 8 thousand years after the events described, you find yourself in the character creation window – capsuleer.
A capsuleer is an immortal entity (it’s hard to call it a person). Why immortal? At the moment of death, the implant located in the brain transfers the entire essence of the capsuleer to the clone, which also possesses such an implant, etc.d.
This is not a cheap business, which is why capsuleers are the elite of society. And regardless of ethnicity.
Yes, there are no races in the game, it’s all people. But there are ethnically different branches.
Amarr (Amarr), Caldari (Caldari), Gallente (Gallente) and Minmatar (Minmatar).
With this I will finish talking about the history of the world, if anyone is interested, I can collect my knowledge in a separate blog.
Why you should play EVE?
Why not? Tired of fantasy with elves? Do you want to capture territories?? Love massive battles? 10×10? You don’t take enough. 100×100? Better, but far from the limit. Not really 500×500? Near.
3 months ago, there was a battle in the C-j6MT system. There were 2000 people in the system. It’s not interesting?
A living economy that depends only on the players. 95% of items and ships on the market are made by players.
Complete freedom of action. If you commit an immoral act in the game (let’s say you robbed, but under no circumstances did you call for an interethnic war, for example), the SSR will not say anything to you, it may even praise you. This is not WoW, where the scammer to whom you sent your gold can be punished by the administration. There’s only hardcore here. If you were robbed, it’s your own fault.

Why you shouldn’t play EVE?
Unfortunately, PVP itself doesn’t look very impressive. T.e. in terms of a strategic view – very much: they planned an attack on the system, control and track a huge flow of information from neighboring systems, friendly alliances, spies, etc.d. But all this is required from the command. For an ordinary soldier, pvp does not look very dynamic. But the realization that you were when your fleet was at war with 500 ships and you won (although in such situations, even defeat brings joy) warms the soul 🙂

By the way, that same battle https://www.trsports.co.uk/nearest-bookies-to-me.html in C-J6MT. Each square is a player.

As a result, we have a game that is very much tied to the players themselves. After all, why is war waged in EVE – for the sake of war itself. After all, this is a game. And we want to have fun from the game. EVE is a huge sandbox, with laws set by the players themselves; with an economy that depends on the players; with huge alliances that have their own goals. SSR actively uses players to improve their game. For example, they have a CSM. This is a special department, which includes the players themselves (selected by vote, anyone can apply to the CSM) and the SSR consults with them.
And if, after viewing and reading all this, you decide to try. Here’s a little guide.
Completely newbies.
So. Creating a capsuleer. SSR (developers, pronounced sisipi 🙂 ) about 2 years ago, released their engine called Carbon (for example, the future game World of Darkness will be on it). I’ll tell you honestly. In all the time I’ve been playing (almost 4 years) I haven’t met a single similar avatar. It’s a small thing, but it’s nice.

Faction choice only affects starting skills. In EVE, any character, of any faction, can fly anything, use any modules, etc.d. You just need to learn the necessary skills. And there is something to learn.
Total 380 skills. Each has 5 levels. All skills take time to learn. Level 1 skills are learned quickly. From a couple of minutes to an hour. With each new level, more and more time is required to study. Get to 30+ days at 5 levels. But there is no need to be afraid, skills are constantly being learned, even when you are offline (as long as the account is active).
Directions.
Two main directions can be distinguished. No, this is not PVP or PVE. This is PVP and economic strategy.
Of the economic professions we have: production (modules, ships and more), mining, trade (transportation, “bargaining”) and planetary colonization (I hope I didn’t miss anything).
Moreover, the manufacturer who produces (pun) modules, differs in skills from the one who produces the ships. And it differs seriously (not like a miner from a battleship pilot, of course, but still). Customization in EVE is simply colossal. It is very difficult to find two pilots who have completely identical skills (provided that they have the same playing time).
Therefore, it is better to determine in advance the direction you like. For example, choose PVP (Well, it’s clear here, most often this is precisely why they play, but there are also those who like to create 5-6 accounts and produce on a large scale, with the development of Excel tables, etc.d.).
But what exactly to download in PVP??
First of all, determine the role you want to do. There are a lot of them here. And the easiest way to get acquainted with them is to read descriptions of ships on the market.
We go to the market (I made a Russian client specifically for the blog, but I play in English, I’m used to it. But the localization is very high quality. You see * next to all names? If you hover over *, the English spelling will appear. Made to make life easier for newbies who are bombarded with foreign slang)
Next, select the “victim”
Let’s say this is what you are looking for. Go to the “requirements” tab
The green indicator shows you the requirement already achieved. Yellow indicates that you have a skill, but it is not of sufficient level, and red warns that you do not yet know the required skill.
It is important to note that there are no useless ships (well, except Brutix, no one likes Brutix 🙁 ). Great veterans who have gone through more than one war will use frigates in the fleet. Whether they are interceptors, or special ships, or bombers, it doesn’t matter. The important thing is that these ships require the frigate skill, which is available immediately.
Many people think that it takes a lot of time to start flying normally in fleets and doing PVP. This is wrong. It takes a month of play to learn an interceptor, which is always in demand in fleets of all sizes. Let me remind you that you don’t need to play 25/7 for this.
Well. If you liked what I presented here and want to learn more about EVE, feel free to ask and “order” topics here. Or in the game
Captain Semper is my nickname in EVE (and yes, I’m a “game” person, so I won’t object to trolling from my opponents 🙂 )
