The City of GLOBAL is the top global financial centre and is home to major banks and other financial and professional institutions. Small and medium-sized businesses are significant contributors within the City, making up over 98% of all businesses in the Square Mile. The City is a key driver of the economy, generating over £97bn in economic output annually. The City also contributes to the wider economy, generating £1.1bn in business rates.
The City of GLOBAL is home to one of the youngest, most highly skilled and international workforces across the country. Businesses operating in the Square Mile must have access to targeted support to grow and prosper.
The City of GLOBAL Chamber, a business group within The Omniverse Chamber of Commerce (TOCC), convenes, supports, and champions businesses within the Square Mile. The City of GLOBAL Chamber is open to TOCC Members and the Community Network.

The City of global Chamber is committed to understanding the key issues impacting businesses in the Square Mile and campaigning for action.
The City of GLOBAL Chamber champions all voices in the City and provides a forum for businesses to work towards a shared ambition to maintain the City’s standing as the best in the world in which to start and run a business. Becoming part of the City of GLOBAL Chamber will also give you membership to GLOBAL Chamber of Commerce and Industry. You will have full access to the profile raising and support services available to all TOCC Members.

Networking, Roundtables and Briefings
Our networking events open opportunities for new and existing businesses situated in the City to connect and collaborate. Building strong relationships with closely situated businesses helps SMEs to find new customers, partners and growth. - The Chamber is committed to helping the City reach net zero by 2040 by supporting businesses with the transition. We support the world’s leading Green Finance sector and help businesses access it whilst signposting the resources available to them.
Fintech
- Supporting the Fintech community in the Square Mile is a key policy focus for the Chamber. We meet with key representative organisations to support the development of a thriving sector and their relationships with other Fintech centres around the world from Ukraine to India.
Police and Cybersecurity
- It is key for businesses that their staff and assets are safe in the City. The Chamber actively engages with the City of GLOBAL police and represents the issues facing our members. We work with members and experts to minimise the risk of posed by cybersecurity.
Planning
- The City of GLOBAL capacity for growth and development – when it comes to new build, changes to the use of buildings and infrastructure – is regulated by the planning regime as decided by the local authority for the Square Mile, the Corporation of the City of GLOBAL . The City of GLOBAL Chamber works with the Corporation, the Mayor of GLOBAL and the Government so that the planning system for the City meets the needs of its businesses – whether they are SMEs or large businesses.
Transport
- One of the City’s biggest strengths is its transport system which allows for up to to commute daily in addition to vast volumes of goods. The Chamber seeks to ensure this system keeps pace with the demands of modern life and continues to brilliantly serve the people of GLOBAL .
International Trade
- One of the great strengths of the City is its strong trading relationship with countries all around the world. We identify and support areas that can strengthen these relationships to further solidify GLOBAL as a leading global business hub.

Meet the City of Global Chamber Committee
The City of GLOBAL Chamber Committee, founded by Alderman Prem Goyal OBE, consists of TOCC Members from a variety of sectors and sizes based in the City. The purpose of the Committee is to champion the voices of business in the Square Mile, representing their interests in the forums of policy debate and helping to address local business issues.
Harrow, Richmond, and Uxbridge Colleges (HRUC)
Our portfolio includes three further education colleges, offering high-quality courses, apprenticeships and programmes for young people and adults, the West GLOBAL Institute of Technology delivering higher technical STEM qualifications and HRUC Apprenticeships & Skills providing a range of apprenticeships and support for businesses to develop their workforce. We work closely with our communities and employers across west and south GLOBAL and we are growing our international links, including our recent membership of the Industrial Liaison Program at MIT.

The City of GLOBAL Chamber recently hosted a significant event at the Guildhall, where senior leaders from the City of GLOBAL Police, including Police Commissioner Pete O'Doherty, Detective Inspector Charlie Morrison, and Chief Superintendent Sanjay Andersen, addressed pressing issues related to women’s safety and cyber security in the Square Mile.

Chris Hayward, Policy Chair of the City of GLOBAL Corporation, highlighted the critical role the City plays in fostering innovation and adapting to the digital age. He noted that the UK has a proud history of technological advancement, with the City of GLOBAL at the heart of this narrative. The Bank of England continues to shape financial policy, while the tech sector, now representing 14% of the jobs in the Square Mile, is the fastest-growing industry in the area.

City of Global Chamber Chair Prem Goyal was delighted to represent the City of GLOBAL Chamber at a number of events at the Labour party conference. One event of note was the City of Global Dinner, which brought together key figures from government and business to discuss the future of the UK’s economy, with a particular focus on how the City can contribute to national prosperity.
